Linda Pissot Reig, Vice President, Compliance Services, of Porzio Pharamaceutical Services and Jennifer A. Romanski, Counsel of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, spoke at RAPS Advertising, Promotion and Labeling Conference on May 1, 2008 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Their presentation, entitled "Avoiding Pitfalls in Off Label Communication and Effective Use of Medical Science Liaisons" discussed special considerations to avoid illegal “Off Label” promotion at scientific conferences, physician speaker programs & CLE programs, including handling requests for off label information. The session provides an overview of FDA untitled and warning letters and recent enforcement actions involving “Off Label” communications. This session explores the role of medical science liaisons, legal considerations for recruitment, training and oversight, evaluation of new draft guidance on distribution of medical literature reprints, and key provisions for standard operating procedures and best practices for effective audits.
