MICHELLE AXELROD brings over a decade of in-house experience at leading life sciences and related healthcare  organizations to her role as Vice President of Porzio Pharmaceutical Services.  Having counseled corporate legal, compliance, sales and marketing departments from within, Ms. Axelrod is well versed in the inner workings of the life sciences industry.  She understands the collaborative effort required for crafting and maintaining successful and cost-effective compliance programs, as well as the challenges such programs entail.  Ms. Axelrod applies her insight to her PPS responsibilities, which include product development and quality control, oversight of marketing endeavors and PPS personnel, and most importantly, to delivering innovative and practical solutions to PPS pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology customers. 

In addition to her responsibilities at PPS, Ms. Axelrod is a principal of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. in the Life Sciences Compliance and Commercialization team.

Prior to joining PPS, Ms. Axelrod served as Assistant General Counsel at Sepracor, Inc. from 2004 through 2010.  There, she successfully managed and supervised attorneys and administrative personnel and supported all commercial business units, including sales, marketing, commercial analytics, new products planning, contracting and pricing, clinical research and medical affairs.  During her time at Sepracor, Ms. Axelrod acted as lead counsel on the development and/or commercialization of seven products.  Her ability to leverage this expertise makes her an invaluable resource for PPS and our life sciences customers.

Prior to joining Sepracor, Ms. Axelrod spent seven years at Gentiva Health Services.  As Senior Attorney and Executive Director of the organization’s HIPAA Compliance Team, she was responsible for healthcare regulatory and compliance matters, including managed care and insurance contracting, health care fraud and abuse, medical privacy/confidentiality, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement issues, and home healthcare management, distribution and licensing arrangements.
